외교저널 (Diplomacy Journal) 이준석 기자 | 해양경찰청은 (사)한국피해자지원협회(KOVA)와 해양 범죄 피해자 보호·지원을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 6일 밝혔다. 해양경찰청 청사 회의실에서 진행된 이번 협약식에는 해양경찰청 장인식 수사국장과 한국피해자지원협회 박효순 회장 등 양 기관 책임자들이 참석했다. 이번 협약으로 양 기관은 해양 범죄, 피해자 보호·지원의 필요성에 대한 인식을 같이하고, 상호 정보교환을 통하여 신속하고 종합적인 보호·지원이 이루어지도록 협조하기로 했다. 특히, 해양경찰청은 피해자전담경찰관 대상으로 피해상담사 자격증을 취득하고 관련 교육 등을 강화해 전문성을 확보하는 한편, 유관 기관 간 협업체계를 통해 범죄 피해자들의 일상생활 복귀를 위해 최선을 다할 계획이다. 협약식에서 박효순 회장은 “범죄피해자 보호 및 지원은 공공과 민간이 함께 노력해야 하는 우리 사회의 필수 과제로 해양경찰청과의 협력이 좋은 본보기(롤모델)를 제시할 것으로 기대한다”면서 “지난 12년간 한국피해자지원협회(KOVA)가 쌓아온 노하우와 자원들을 활용하여 해양 안전, 피해자 보호 등을 위해 적극 협조하겠다”고 약속했다. 이어 장
